The Brooklyn Nets are looking to move forward in the aftermath of the Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving era.

The Nets thought those two future Hall of Famers would be carrying their franchise for many years to come.

But it did not work out and they were forced to trade both players this past season.

The Nets are now moving forward with a core of young players and a bright future.

One reason the Nets have a chance for future success is their coaching staff.

They hired Jacque Vaughn seven games into the season after firing Steve Nash.

Vaughn led the Nets to a 43-32 record and the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

But now after his first full offseason with the team, Vaughn made a change to his coaching staff.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Ollie is joining the Nets as an assistant coach.

Ollie had head coaching interest this offseason from the Detroit Pistons.

But after the Piston hired Monty Williams, Ollie decided to join the Nets as an assistant.

Many remember Ollie from the success he had at the University of Connecticut.

He won a National Championship in his tenure there and has spent the last few seasons coaching Overtime Elite of the G-league.

Ollie is a former NBA player and he has experience developing young players.

That is what he will be required to do with the look of the Nets roster.

This is Ollie’s first job as an NBA coach and it will be interesting to see how he does.

His name might be in the discussion for a head coaching job again next offseason.
