The defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors came into this season looking to continue their dynasty and claim a fifth world title in the previous nine seasons to put themselves in some very exclusive company.
But they were wobbly all season long, as they had lots of trouble winning on the road, and it culminated with a six-game loss in the second round of the playoffs to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Instantly, there was lots of speculation that Golden State’s dynasty was over, and one reason was the status of executive Bob Myers.
It was rumored that Myers would step down as soon as his contract expired in June, and that is exactly what he decided to do.
But there is no doubt he will end his tenure as one of the more successful executives in league history.

Myers was hired by the Warriors after spending over a decade as a player agent, and at the time, they had long been a laughingstock.
They hadn’t won it all since 1975, and since then, they had rarely made the playoffs, let alone make it past the first round of the postseason.
But Myers made what some thought was a difficult decision to build around both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, even though some thought they should’ve traded Thompson for a big man.
Once they hired Steve Kerr as their head coach in 2014, the rest was history.
The Warriors likely won’t be seen as having as great a dynasty as the Lakers of the 1980s and 2000s or the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls, but they certainly have lots to be proud of.
