A couple of days ago, the Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins after plenty of speculation that they may look to trade him this offseason.

Although the five-time Pro Bowler is still a very capable playmaker, if not the dazzling one he was just a few years ago, there was reportedly some tension between him and his former employer.

According to Kyle Odegard, when Hopkins sat out the last two games of last season despite being able to play, it angered some within the organization.

Hopkins missed the first six games of the campaign as well after the NFL suspended him for violating its performance-enhancing drugs policy.

In nine contests, he put up 717 yards and three touchdowns, and he is still considered someone who could improve the fortunes of a number of teams.

The New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, and Baltimore Ravens are thought to be the teams with the most interest in signing him.

In general, 2022 was a dismal year for the Cardinals, who had won their first seven games and made the playoffs the previous year.

Last season, they lost each of their last seven contests, as quarterback Kyler Murray tore his ACL in Week 14 against the New England Patriots.

Arizona has a new head coach in Jonathan Gannon, who was the defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles when they reached the Super Bowl last season, and they’re hoping he will get the team back to the postseason next winter.

But in order to do so, they will have to replace the production Hopkins gave them when healthy and available the last three years.
