Blue Jays’ Espinal expected to avoid IL after suffering hamstring discomfort

[ad_1]

Toronto Blue Jays infielder Santiago Espinal is expected to avoid injury reserve after exiting Saturday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles with hamstring discomfort.

Sportsnet’s Ben Wagner told Arden Zwelling on Blue Jays Central that Espinal’s imaging didn’t come back as badly as expected. The Blue Jays are awaiting more results to come in later on Sunday.

Otto Lopez joined the Jays from triple-A Buffalo Sunday morning but remained in the taxi squad for Toronto’s series finale with the O’s.

Espinal hit for .205 so far this season along with one home run and five RBI.
