If there’s one thing that screams sweet summertime more than anything else – it’s ice cream! We find ourselves frequenting the local ice cream spots more often than we should admit with our two littles as soon as the temps climb. But I recently discovered how simple and easy it is to make it at home, and even make it dare I say…. healthy? Introducing our family’s new BFF, the Ninja CREAMi.
And what could be better than some homemade ice cream at a Memorial Day get together?! With Memorial Day on the horizon, it’s time to stock up on all the hosting essentials for our backyard barbecues! Thankfully Walmart is the one-stop shop for everything we need! Outdoor-friendly plates, the cutest beverage dispenser stand, serving trays, grills and griddles, food and drink, and all things red, white and blue! And you guessed it – an ice cream maker! Walmart has it all and they deliver on price! Plus with curbside pickup I’m saving time, which I’m always looking for ways to do as a working mom-on-the-go! Win-win!
Now let’s talk about this Ninja CREAMi a bit more! Not only can it make traditional ice cream, it can also make gelato, sorbet, milkshakes, mix-ins and more! There are endless possibilities with what you can make with it, even taking just a simple can of pineapples and turning it into sorbet! That’s my kind of healthy treat! Most recipes call for your recipe to set in the freezer for 24 hours before putting them in the Ninja CREAMi to mix up, so pay close attention here –> Pro tip: buy extra pints so you can have plenty of flavors made in your freezer, ready to be stirred up for serving when the craving hits!
**I know the Ninja CREAMi is a hot commodity this ice cream season, so here are a few other ice cream making options in case it’s not currently available near you: Beautiful Option // Cuisinart Option
Here’s to a fun summer of mixing up our own flavor combinations, and turning healthy fruits into healthy “ice cream” 😉
