Pete Carroll and the Seattle Seahawks have made a living out of finding hidden gems in the NFL Draft, and they may have done it again this time.
According to insider Corbin K. Smith, the team has been quite high on sixth-round pick Jerrick Reed II, raving about his charisma and work ethic.

Notably, not many people even knew who he was when the Seahawks took him, but he’s now ready to make everybody remember his name.
Reed didn’t get a single D-I scholarship offer despite having an illustrious career in high school.
He enrolled at Northwest Mississippi Community College and was a standout player in one season before transferring to New Mexico to become a four-year starter.
Reed excelled at both safety spots and nickel CB, showcasing the positional versatility that Pete Carroll loves so much.
But even despite logging nearly 90 tackles in his final two seasons in college, he was still overlooked by most NFL scouts until his Pro Day.
Reed logged a 38-inch vertical jump and ran a sub-4.45 40-yard dash, earning the “angry elf” nickname by Carroll and GM John Schneider, so what he lacks in size, he makes up for with unmatched athleticism and competitiveness.
It would be hard to think of a better fit for a late-round pick with a chip on his shoulders than the Seahawks.
He’s the jack of all trades as a defensive back and can play multiple positions, and he strikes like the kind of player who’s determined to leave his mark on a team’s culture.
