Although Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid won this season’s NBA regular-season MVP award, many feel that Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is still the best basketball player in the world.
On Wednesday, he was named to the All-NBA First Team for the fifth consecutive time and the results of the balloting show that he received more first-team votes than anyone else.

Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum was second on the list while Embiid was only third.
Antetokounmpo had arguably his best statistical regular season yet, averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists a game while shooting 55.3 percent from the field.
He led the Bucks to the best regular-season record in the NBA despite injuries that caused co-star Khris Middleton to play in just 33 games.
Unfortunately for Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, they were unceremoniously dumped in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat after he missed a couple of games with a back injury he suffered in Game 1.
It resulted in the team firing head coach Mike Budenholzer, even though he had coached them to the world championship just two years ago.
Antetokounmpo already has a very impressive resume with that championship, two regular-season MVP awards, one NBA Finals MVP, and a Defensive Player of the Year award.
At age 28, he should have several more years to add to that resume, and it will all start with who Milwaukee hires to be their next head coach.
But the team should have plenty of motivation next year after such an embarrassing end to what looked like a promising season.
