Recently, the St. Louis Cardinals have found themselves in the news for all the wrong reasons.
In the midst of their struggles, which now have them at the bottom of the National League, they have decided to pull Willson Contreras out of the everyday catcher spot and use him exclusively as a designated hitter.
The Cardinals had planned on using him in the outfield as well, but ultimately decided against it.
But as the days go by, the situation with Contreras and the Cardinals is only getting worse.
As seen in the tweet below, Contreras has removed the picture of himself in a Cardinals uniform from his Instagram profile.

Laughable how he’s been treated the last few weeks. Need to see him back at catcher where he belongs #STLCards pic.twitter.com/A6PXrRZHZ7

This all could be a mere coincidence.
However, given the recent series of events, it appears that things are getting heated between Contreras and the Cardinals.
The veteran catcher is clearly frustrated with how the Cardinals have been handling things, and rightfully so.
St. Louis decided to move him out of the catcher spot and give Andrew Knizner more reps in an attempt to reverse the struggles of the pitching staff.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to have worked for the Cardinals.
Instead, Contreras is seemingly being used as a scapegoat for the entire situation, which is ultimately a bad look for the Cardinals organization.
St. Louis signed the veteran catcher to a five-year, $87.5 million contract in December to replace the retired Yadier Molina.
So far, Contreras has produced quite well for the Cardinals, hitting .265 with two home runs and 14 RBI to start the season.
