Football is a rough sport, and sometimes it can be pretty brutal physically, especially if you are getting up there in the age department.

Although his playing days have long since been over, which go back to 1968 as a linebacker with the University of Houston, Wade Phillips remains on the sidelines in a coaching capacity, as he is now coaching in the XFL.

Phillips, who made a name for himself as a defensive coordinator and a head coach during his time in the NFL, the 75-year-old is now the head coach of the Texas Roughnecks, which is fitting for him.

As if there was any doubt, Phillips is still as tough as they come, which he showed during a scary incident on the sideline in the XFL when a player ran him over via NFL on ESPN.

It comes as no surprise that Phillips, at 75, is the oldest coach in the XFL today, which far exceeds the oldest coaches in the NFL.

Believe it or not, Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks, who looks much younger than he actually is, is the NFL’s oldest coach at 71 years old.

Just behind Carroll is someone that beat him in the Super Bowl a few years back in spectacular fashion with a last-minute goal-line interception.

Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots is 70 years old.

Then it drops considerably again from Belichick on down to reigning Super Bowl champion Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs, who is 64 years old and still going as strong as ever.
