The incident occurred during the final minute of Winnipeg’s 3-1 victory on Tuesday. During a battle in the corner, Pionk delivered a cross-check to Johansson’s ribs, dropping Johansson to the ice.
Pionk was assessed a five-minute major penalty on the play.
The fine is the maximum allowable amount under the CBA.
