The Detroit Lions were one of the NFL’s most surprising teams last season, and it has led to a very bright future for them heading into next season.
Most expected them to be terrible in 2022, and after starting the season 1-6, they won eight of their last 10 games and came narrowly close to nabbing a wild-card playoff spot in the NFC.
Detroit’s offense was surprisingly strong last year, and it could become even stronger if wide receiver Jameson Williams starts to tap into his potential.
Aidan Hutchinson, who was a rookie in 2022 along with Williams, thinks highly of what the wideout can become.

Williams spent much of 2022 rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered in his last game with the University of Alabama, but a week after making his debut late in the season, he had an impressive 41-yard reception that gave him his first touchdown in the pros.
Hutchinson said that touchdown left him and his teammates “stargazing.”
“I mean it happened right as he scored that touchdown,” Hutchinson said on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast. “We’re all sitting there on the sideline, because we know how fast he is. … We were all sitting there on the sideline just stargazing and really excited about next year.”
That catch accounted for all of Williams’ production last season, but he was a monster the previous season with the Crimson Tide when he put up 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns.
The Lions already have wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is a young stud himself, as well as veteran Marvin Jones Jr., who is back for his second stint with the team.
With quarterback Jared Goff coming off one of his best seasons ever and his third Pro Bowl selection, perhaps the Lions will return to the NFL playoffs next year for the first time since 2016.
