The Golden State Warriors will have a tough time repeating as NBA champions.
For the first time in years, it seems like both conferences are up for grabs, and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see a team come out of the blue and shock the world by snatching the crown.
With that in mind, former NBA champion Richard Jefferson put together his ranking of the top 5 best teams in the league right now, and it didn’t disappoint.

1. Bucks
2. Celtics
3. Nuggets
4. 76ers
5. Every team not in top four pic.twitter.com/6OrcerIE55— Get Up (@GetUpESPN) April 3, 2023
At number 5, he chose every team not in his top 4, citing that there’s just too much chaos in the league right now.
Then, he has the Philadelphia 76ers, a team he claims is elite, but that seems lacking when compared to the biggest powerhouses in the Eastern Conference.
Jefferson chose the Denver Nuggets at number three.
He claims that they’re the best team in the Western Conference, have depth, added nice pieces, have the two-time reigning MVP, and are finally healthy.
Then, Jefferson chose the Boston Celtics as the second-best team in the NBA, lauding Malcolm Brogdon’s addition, their defense, and how stacked they are in every position.
Nonetheless, the gap between them and the Milwaukee Bucks — his no. 1 team — is quite wide right now.
Per Jefferson, they have too much size and depth, and the fact that they can match up against Joel Embiid and other elite bigs so easily gives them the nod over everybody else.
The Bucks can throw multiple guys at rival stars while keeping Giannis Antetokounmpo fresh to do his thing on both ends of the floor, and that might be the key to winning their second ring in the past three seasons.
