The New York Knicks have been one of the NBA’s most underrated feel-good stories this season.

Not too many people outside of the Tri-state area expected them to have a real shot at making the playoffs, but they did just that on Sunday when they secured a spot in the postseason with a 118-109 win over the Washington Wizards.

New York holds fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 46-33 record, and it looks like that is where they will likely finish the regular season.

Knicks fans are pleased to be returning to the NBA’s “second season.”

This fan feels the Knicks are going to do more than simply make the playoffs.

It looks like they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers, another somewhat surprising team, in the first round of the playoffs, which would mean a matchup with star guard Donovan Mitchell, who is a native of the New York City area.

But these two fans feel New York will be nothing more than playoff fodder for its first-round opponent.

The team was rumored to be in the running for landing Mitchell via trade last summer, but it had to settle for signing Jalen Brunson.

But Brunson has had a remarkable season, averaging 24.0 points and 6.2 assists per game while shooting 49.1 percent overall and 41.6 percent from 3-point range.

On Sunday, he led the Knicks with 27 points on 11-of-20 shooting and eight assists.

Even if the Knicks end up going out in the first round of the playoffs, what they’ve done all season can serve as a springboard for greater success in the years to come.
