Ever since taking over as the head coach of the Toronto Raptors, Nick Nurse has done an admirable job of guiding the NBA’s only team stationed in Canada.

There have been rumors that he may move on at the conclusion of this season, and he said he will take his time before deciding what will come next for him.

Nurse is one of the few NBA head coaches who never played in the league, which makes his coaching resume all the more impressive.

He was an assistant coach in Toronto for five seasons under Dwane Casey before getting the head coaching job for the 2018-19 campaign.

After years of modest playoff success, the team took a big swing in the summer of 2018 by trading for talented but enigmatic superstar forward Kawhi Leonard, and with Nurse’s help, he led the Raptors to the world championship over the Golden State Warriors.

Leonard left in free agency weeks after winning the title, but the Raptors have remained competitive.

Nurse has gotten lots out of a roster that has seen some changes since, but he has also had the benefit of mainstays such as Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet and OG Anunoby.

After 2019, Toronto has made the playoffs twice in three seasons, and this year has a shot at the postseason once again, as they currently sit in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with a 38-38 record.

With Siakam, Anunoby, and the emerging Scottie Barnes, the team could have a bright future if it somehow lures a big-time star.
