It looks like it is all but inevitable that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will play for the New York Jets next season, as he announced that he intends to play for them in 2023.
The Jets still have to work out the terms of a trade with the Green Bay Packers in order to grant him his wish, as he is still under contract with the latter.
New York has an interesting and promising young team, especially on the defensive side of the football, and some feel all it needs is an established QB such as Rodgers to become a legitimate threat.
NFL analyst Cynthia Frelund got analytical when she projected that Rodgers would add 5.8 wins to the Jets based on first downs and touchdowns.
If Aaron Rodgers lands with the New York Jets…

The metric she used was win shares, which is a common metric used in the NBA to attempt to measure how many wins a particular player adds to his team.
Frelund pointed out that average quarterbacks add about four wins to their respective wins, so almost two extra wins could mean the difference between missing the playoffs and being able to do some damage there.
She also alluded to the Jets’ addition of wide receiver Allen Lazard, who played five seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay and had 788 yards and six touchdowns in 2022, which will help the future Pro Football Hall of Fame build chemistry with his new team faster.
Before long-suffering Jets fans start dreaming of a Super Bowl appearance, they should consider how tough the AFC East is, as the Miami Dolphins have added cornerback Jalen Ramsey, the New England Patriots have snagged wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and the Buffalo Bills are still a title contender.
