Avalanche’s Lehkonen to undergo surgery for broken finger

Colorado Avalanche forward Artturi Lehkonen will reportedly undergo surgery to address a broken finger he sustained in Monday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens, head coach Jared Bednar told reporters.

Bednar wasn’t exactly sure when the injury was sustained, but was certain it happened on a shot at some point.

Playing against his former team, Lehkonen was honoured by the Canadiens faithful with a pre-game tribute video.

The 27-year-old scored twice in the Avalanche’s four-goal first period, helping set the tone for a dominant 8-4 victory.

Lehkonen has tallied 20 goals and 29 assists in 62 appearances during the 2022-23 season.
