Bedard Watch: Pats star passes 125-point mark with singular goal in OT loss

Connor Bedard reached the 125-point mark for the first time of his major junior career in a 5-4 Regina Pats overtime loss to the Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The consensus No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft broke the ice at Lethbridge’s Enmax Centre only 3:50 into the opening frame. Bedard backhanded the puck between his legs in a move that confused everyone but him.

Bedard didn’t record another point in the night. The Pats weren’t able to defend their 4-3 lead in the third period and eventually fell in overtime thanks to a goal from Hurricanes blue liner Logan McCutcheon.

BEDARD’S SEASON TOTALS: 50 GP, 61 G, 64 A, 125 Pts.

PATS’ RECORD: 31-26-4 (Sixth in the Eastern Conference)

UP NEXT: Bedard and the Pats will make the short trip East to take on the Medecine hat Tigers on Friday at 9 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. MT.

With Bedard the top-ranked prospect for the 2023 NHL Draft, here’s a look at the current lottery odds. There will be two lottery draws where the top two picks are up for grabs. The percentages below indicate the chances of a team winning the first lottery when the top pick is in play. However, teams can only move up a maximum of 10 spots in order, so if a team outside of the bottom 11 wins the first draw, they won’t get the first overall pick. Therefore, while the 32nd-ranked team has an 18.5 per cent to win the first lottery, they still have a 25.5 per cent chance to pick first overall.
