Daniel Jones will be remaining with the New York Giants after signing a four-year contract worth $160 million.

While some Giants fans are very happy, others feel such a contract is simply worth too much money for a player of his caliber.

While Jones is one of the best rushing quarterbacks in the NFL, he is not exactly a big-time threat when throwing the football.

In fact, he has one of the lowest touchdown pass rates in the entire league over the past three seasons.

Jones ran for 708 yards and seven touchdowns this past season, but he notched only 3,205 passing yards and 15 touchdown passes.

His defenders will point out his solid 67.2 percent completion rate and use the fact that the Giants don’t have any real bona fide threats at the wide receiver position as the reason his passing numbers aren’t impressive.

However, a truly elite or near-elite passing QB isn’t totally reliant on having a Pro Bowl wideout or two in order to put up big numbers.

New York finished just 24th in passing touchdowns and 26th in passing yards in 2022, and a huge part of its offense revolved around running back Saquon Barkley, who has just received its franchise tag.

Jones has done a good job of limiting his interceptions of late, but he will need to improve as a passer in order to get his team to the next level.

This past season, his most productive wide receiver was Darius Slayton, who had a modest 724 yards and only two touchdowns.
