Following another stint with the New England Patriots, top assistant Matt Patricia is looking at another opportunity somewhere else.
He’s been tied with multiple teams over the past couple of weeks, as his final year with the Patriots wasn’t exactly successful.
With that in mind, Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald revealed that the Philadelphia Eagles are considering making a run at him, most likely as a linebackers coach.
I’m hearing that Matt Patricia has a shot to land with the Philadelphia Eagles on the defensive staff, presumably as a linebackers coach.

Needless to say, this would be a bit of a step back for the guy who was quite close to Bill Belichick for years, but he might not have another choice right now.
Patricia was the team’s de facto offensive coordinator in 2022, and the results were as catastrophic as one would expect after having a defensive specialist calling the plays on offense.
He wasn’t fired by the Patriots, but his new role in Belichick’s staff is uncertain, as they brought in Bill O’Brien to serve as their offensive coordinator going forward.
The Denver Broncos interviewed Patricia for their DC vacancy— which was eventually filled by Vance Joseph — but HC Sean Payton stated that he could still see him joining their staff.
Now, Nick Sirianni has officially entered the sweepstakes in his attempt to bolster a coaching staff that lost DC Jonathan Gannon to the Arizona Cardinals HC job.
Patricia has plenty of experience as a defensive-minded assistant, and he’s already served as a LB coach in the past, so this would make sense for both parties, even if he’s overqualified for the gig.
