The Chicago Bears currently hold the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The combine is well underway, and there are now less than two months until the draft.

While some around the NFL believe that the Bears will draft a quarterback with their first overall pick, one NFL analyst isn’t so sure.

Dan Orlovsky is a former NFL quarterback.

When asked about the Bears’ situation, Orlovsky responded: “Justin Fields, first of all, he’s their starting quarterback, he’s their future.”

Orlovsky also points out that Fields was responsible for 25 touchdowns, a metric that was matched by a few playoff quarterbacks.

While Bryce Young is touted as the best overall player in this draft, Orlovsky is adamant that the Bears already have a more than adequate starting quarterback.

In 15 games during the 2022 NFL season, Fields threw for 2,242 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 11 interceptions.

He also rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns.

Fields has joined several other NFL quarterbacks that have elite rushing abilities.

While his 2,242 passing yards were nowhere near the top of the league, Fields only attempted 318 passes.

318 passing attempts was 27th among starting quarterbacks last season.

Fields hasn’t had ample opportunity to show off his throwing abilities, as the Bears’ system has yet to call for an extreme amount of passing yards.

If the Bears can provide him with serviceable wide receiver talent in 2023, Fields should see a marked improvement in his passing numbers.

In the eyes of Orlovsky, it’s not time to give up on Fields.

Will the Bears share the same sentiment?
