On Tuesday, it was announced that Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier would be taking a year off and that he will return for the 2024 season.

That will present a challenge for the Bills, who are coming off a disappointing 2022 season in which they finished 13-3 but lost in the Divisional round of the playoffs to the Cincinnati Bengals by a wide margin, 27-10.

Former NFL player Brandon Marshall feels Buffalo will miss Frazier’s leadership, and he even said “it’s over” for the team.

Coming into the 2022 season, the Bills seemed to be the consensus favorites to not only win the AFC but also perhaps win the Super Bowl, and their defense was a big reason why.

They finished the regular season sixth in total yards allowed and second in points given up, and they held their opponent to 20 points or less 10 times.

Frazier has been a longtime coach in the NFL, and shortly after he took over as Buffalo’s defensive coordinator in 2017, they became one of the league’s best on defense.

In the past, he had served as the defensive coordinator for the Bengals, Minnesota Vikings, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as well as the head coach of the Vikings for three-and-a-half years.

If the Bills suffer a bit of a decline on the defensive side of the football in 2023, they can still rely on their offense to keep them afloat.

They boast one of the game’s very best quarterbacks in Josh Allen, as well as Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs and Pro Bowl tight end Dawson Knox.
