On Wednesday, the Tennessee Titans released several players for salary cap reasons, including veteran wide receiver Robert Woods.

Once he received the news, Woods reacted on Twitter, and he seemed to actually be happy with the development.

Coming into the 2022 season, it looked like the Titans had a good chance of finishing first in the AFC South, one of the weakest divisions in the NFL, especially with star running back Derrick Henry apparently recovered from the Jones fracture that had forced him to miss nine games in 2021.

Tennessee jumped out to a 7-3 record, but lost all of their remaining seven games and ended up missing the playoffs.

Woods was the team’s most productive wide receiver, as he registered 527 yards and two touchdowns.

Just a year ago, he was on the roster of the Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, although he played in just nine games before a torn ACL prematurely ended his season.

He could only sit and watch as the Rams won the world championship at SoFi Stadium, their home arena, over Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Although Woods has never been voted to the Pro Bowl, he has enjoyed a relatively productive 10-year NFL career, and he has gone over the 1,100-yard mark twice.

Head coach Mike Vrabel and company must be missing wideout A.J. Brown, who was traded last offseason and played a big role in the Philadelphia Eagles reaching the Super Bowl.

The Titans will have multiple holes to fill, including perhaps the quarterback position, as 34-year-old Ryan Tannehill had a poor season that was cut short by an ankle injury.
