Even after his retirement, longtime St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina is far from through with baseball.
In fact, he’ll be the manager for his native Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, which begins in less than two weeks.
And so, Molina felt an urge to check in with his former teammate Albert Pujols and see if he wanted to be the bench coach for Team Puerto Rico.
Pujols declined the offer, unfortunately, and gave his buddy a little bit of grief for it as well.
On Twitter, Cardinals insider Brenden Schaeffer posted a snippet of a recent interview with Pujols, where the retired MLB slugger poked a little fun at Molina for not taking a break from the game.

After the Cardinals were eliminated from the postseason by the Philadelphia Phillies, Pujols took a little time off, but Molina went straight into baseball again, managing winter ball in Venezuela.
It appears that one can’t keep Molina away from a baseball field, not even Pujols.
But even in retirement, Molina’s competitive spirit remains intact, and keeping him away from the game of baseball is almost impossible.
Pujols revealed that he will be traveling to visit his former Cardinals teammate in March during the WBC.
The two Cardinals legends are clearly still a close-knit pair of friends, but it’s clear that Pujols would prefer to take a little time away from the game, while Molina prefers to get right back into the action.
Pujols is currently serving a 10-year personal services contract with the Los Angeles Angels.
