Late on Sunday, the Chicago White Sox brought back a key piece from their 2022 ballclub.
According to Jeff Passan, Elvis Andrus, who was acquired from the Oakland Athletics at the trade deadline and had ultimately become a free agent, re-signed with the White Sox on a one-year, $3 million deal.
Andrus filled in at the shortstop position last year while Tim Anderson was injured.
With Anderson healthy again, it is very likely that Andrus will slide over to second base.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today confirmed the news of the signing on Twitter, noting the financial terms and the length of the contract for the veteran infielder.

Andrus hit .249 with 17 home runs, 18 stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .303.
The 34-year-old has spent the vast majority of his MLB career with the Texas Rangers, having reached the Major Leagues with the team in 2009.
He was with the team until 2020 and signed with the A’s prior to the 2021 season.
The 14-year MLB veteran has a career average of .270, a WAR of 33.5, 96 home runs, 335 stolen bases, and an on-base percentage of .326.
He was with the Rangers for their World Series runs in 2010 and 2011.
The Venezuela native’s best season came in 2017.
That year, the veteran infielder hit .297 with 20 home runs and 88 RBI.
Andrus brings a veteran presence to a young White Sox clubhouse.
The team has already signed right-hander Mike Clevinger and outfielder Andrew Benintendi in free agency.
Chicago finished at .500 last season and fell short of the postseason after having reached October in back-to-back seasons.
