While the Montreal Canadiens were one of the more active teams at last year’s NHL trade deadline, we might not see them participate in too much action this time around.
As Sportsnet’s Jeff Marek explained on Saturday’s edition of 32 Thoughts during Hockey Night in Canada, the Canadiens are expected to be ‘quiet’ this deadline.
“Last trade deadline it was all about the Montreal Canadiens and it was players like Brett Kulak going, and Tyler Toffoli and Ben Chiarot, and Artturi Lehkonen goes to the Colorado Avalanche, but this time around with injuries to players like Sean Monahan and Joel Edmundson we expect the Montreal Canadiens to be quiet,” said Marek.
“There’s a lot of veteran players that Kent Hughes is taking calls on, but he very much believes that he wants these quality veteran players around the abundance of youth that are on the Montreal Canadiens lineup right now and Hughes quite frankly believes he has the right mix.”
The Montreal Canadiens had a record of 23-28-4 heading into Saturday night’s matchup against the Toronto Maple Leafs, and are on pace to miss the Stanley Cup playoffs for the second season in a row.
