Being a backup quarterback in the National Football League is as good as a job as one could dream of.
Basically, you get paid a whole lot of money to play football, and you aren’t even asked to play for the most part.
You get the chance to fulfill your dream of throwing passes and touchdowns at the pro level, yet you don’t have to deal with all that pressure that starters do.
And when it came to being an NFL backup, Chad Henne had become one of the best in business.
Now, it’s time for him to take the next step in his career, as he recently announced his retirement after winning Super Bowl LVII.

Henne was a second-round pick out of Michigan, taken by the Miami Dolphins back in 2008.
He didn’t find much success as their starter, later signing a two-year contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
His numbers weren’t all that much better in Jacksonville, but he found a niche as a successful backup, mentoring younger QBs and helping them stay ready.
Notably, Henne also helped the Chiefs stay in contention in the playoffs when Patrick Mahomes had to leave with an injury, and he was a beloved and respected member of the locker room during his time in Missouri.
Now, he’ll call it a day with two Super Bowl rings on his finger, 13,290 passing yards, 60 touchdowns, 63 interceptions, and an 18-36 record in fifteen years.
You may not be impressed by those numbers, but I still believe he lived the dream.
