Veteran MLB outfielder Dexter Fowler is finally hanging up his cleats.
After 14 seasons with the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels, the 36-year-old has announced his retirement.
Fowler came up with the Rockies in 2008 and was with the team through the 2013 season before being traded to Houston.
The switch-hitting outfielder then joined the Chicago Cubs and helped guide the team back to prominence.
He was a member of the 2016 World Series team that broke the “Curse of the Billy Goat.”
He then played four seasons in St. Louis and made a brief stop in Los Angeles.
On Twitter, the veteran outfielder announced the news of his retirement, and thanked each organization he was a part of during his career.

Fowler posted a 19.4 WAR over his 14-year career, hitting for a .259 average with 127 career home runs, 517 RBI, an on-base percentage of .358, a slugging percentage of .417, and an OPS of .775.
Commonly known as “Daddy Long Legs” or simply “Dex,” Fowler was a table setter and a catalyst at the top of the lineup.
The former All-Star’s best season came in 2016 with the Cubs, when he hit 13 home runs and drove in 48 runs while hitting for a career-best .276 average.
He even hit a leadoff home run in Game 7 of the World Series against the Cleveland Indians, now the Guardians.
His power numbers improved once he arrived in St. Louis, as he hit 18 home runs in his first season with the team and followed that up with a career-high 19 homers in 2019.
Fowler was most recently in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, having signed a minor league deal last offseason.
