The San Francisco 49ers will face their stiffest test of this season when they play the Philadelphia Eagles on the road in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.

In order to stock up and give themselves the best chance of victory, the 49ers have made two players from their practice squad — running back Tevin Coleman and cornerback Janoris Jenkins — available to play on Sunday.

Jenkins is an 11-year veteran who was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2016.

The 49ers signed him onto their practice squad late in the regular season, and he has appeared in four games for them since, splitting time between defense and special teams.

Coleman has spent three of the last four seasons with San Francisco, and he has gotten spot duty this season after rejoining the team following a year with the New York Jets.

The matchup between the Niners and Eagles looks to be pretty evenly matched, as both squads are outstanding at running the football and have multiple Pro Bowlers on defense.

But the one advantage San Francisco may have is the fact that Philly is mediocre at defending against the run.

With Christian McCaffrey, Elijah Mitchell, wide receiver Deebo Samuel and Coleman all able to attack on the ground, the Niners are hoping to wear down the Eagles’ front seven as the game proceeds, something they were able to do to the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round last week.

By winning, Niners quarterback Brock Purdy could become the first rookie starting signal-caller to ever lead his team to a Super Bowl appearance.
