Who Is Still Alive From Night Court? (Updated)

Night Court was a comedy series that followed the shenanigans of goofy and eccentric Judge Harry T. Stone, portrayed by Harry Anderson.

The show began in 1984 and ran until 1992, with each episode featuring a new petty crime for Judge Stone and his crew of equally wacky clerks, bailiffs, and attorneys to address.

Although Night Court struggled with finding its momentum for the first two seasons, the cast eventually found their groove and created a consistently successful show.

The main cast members from Night Court who are still alive include John Larroquette, Richard Moll, and Marsha Warfield.

As these cast members grew their careers in the entertainment industry, they all branched out to take on roles outside of acting.

Following his time on Night Court, John Larroquette went on to star in The John Larroquette Show from 1993 until 1996.

He played John Hemingway, a recovering alcoholic who becomes the manager of a busy urban bus station.

Larroquette got his first taste of directing on the set of Night Court, having directed the episodes: Leon, We Hardly Knew Ye in Season 3 and New Year’s Leave in Season 4.

Many fans of Larroquette were introduced to his work through the Texas Chainsaw Massacre film series, with his most recent film being Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 2022.

Richard Moll is the actor behind Aristotle Nostradamus “Bull” Shannon, who is more recently known for his work as a television and video game voice actor.

Moll is the voice behind King Minos in Dante’s Inferno, Harvey Dent and Two-Face in The New Batman Adventures, and Cabbot in Fallout.

The producers chose Moll for the role of Bull Shannon because they needed someone who could tower over the 6’3” Harry Anderson and 6’4” John Larroquette.

At 6’7.75”, Richard Moll was both physically and emotionally the perfect actor for the role.

Marsha Warfield made a name for herself as a comedian while appearing as a member of Richard Pryor’s sketch series from 1977.

In 1983, Warfield appeared in Mr. T’s movie D.C. Cab and appeared on Family Ties as Doris Bradshaw only a year later.

Warfield portrayed Toni Wilson on 9-1-1 from 2021 until 2022, and she will be starring in A Holiday I Do alongside Rivkah Reyes.

At the time of his death, Anderson was also suffering from heart disease and influenza.

Anderson was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1952, growing up with a passion for magic tricks and entertainment.

Known for blending his magic tricks with his comedy, Anderson was invited to perform on The Tonight Show on 12 different occasions.

Harry Anderson began making a bigger name for himself in Hollywood by the early 1980s, first appearing in the television movie Twilight Theater and The Escape Artist in 1982.

A year later, Anderson appeared in Elvira’s Movie Macabre.

Horror movie fans will remember Anderson for his role as Richie Tozier in the television mini-series based on Stephen King’s book It.

He also appeared in Tales From the Crypt as Jim Korman in the episode Korman’s Kalamity.

Through the 1990s, Anderson could be found on sitcoms across television, including series such as Cheers, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, The John Larroquette Show, and Night Stand.

The series also starred DeLane Matthews, Zane Carney, Shadoe Stevens, Meshach Taylor, and J.C. Wendel.

In the early 2000s, Anderson felt that he had spent more than enough time in Hollywood and decided to retire from acting.

Anderson had fallen in love with the French Quarter of New Orleans and opened a nightclub called “Oswald’s Speakeasy” in 2005, where he would perform regularly.

After earning his fortune, Anderson wanted nothing more than to just go back to sharing his magic tricks.

Charlie Robinson was 75 years old when he passed away from cardiac arrest and cancer, leaving behind a legacy that spanned over 50 years.

This Houston-born thespian greatly impacted theater, television, and film.

Robinson began his entertainment career by appearing in theater and singing with R&B groups such as Southern Clouds of Joy and Archie Bell and the Drells before attending Chris Wilson’s acting school in the late 1960s.

Armed with a new skill set, Charlie Robinson moved to Hollywood and began appearing in film and television.

Robinson’s film career ramped up through the 1970s when he starred in films such as The Black Gestapo, The White Shadow, Sugar Hill, Caribe, and A Killing Affair.

While starring as the court clerk, Mac Robinson in Night Court, Robinson quickly became a fan favorite and went on to direct more episodes than any of his other cast members.

Robinson directed the episodes My Three Dads in 1990, Bringing Down Baby in 1991, and The 1992 Boat Show in 1992.

Despite the massive success that Robinson found across television and film, he would return to the world of theater.

During his time in the theater, Robinson was awarded the Image Theatre Award, the Best Actor Ovation Award for his performance as Troy in Fences, and a FRED Award for his portrayal of Simon from The Whipping Man.

Not only was the pair able to create an entire play in 27 days, but they also became incredibly close, like father and son.

Robinson served as a source of inspiration and hope until the very end.

Markie Post passed away at 70 years old after having battled cancer for three years and 10 months.

Post began her career in entertainment working behind the scenes of game shows such as Split Second before becoming an associate producer for Alex Trebek’s Double Dare.

Markie Post made her on-camera debut when she became a card dealer for NBC’s Card Sharks.

In 1979, she began acting on television in small guest roles in shows such as Hart to Hart, The Incredible Hulk, CHiPs, The Lazarus Syndrome, Barnaby Jones, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.

As her television career expanded, Post could be spotted on even more popular shows with larger roles.

Before she brought Christine Sullivan to life in Night Court, Post could be seen on Cheers, The Love Boat, The A-Team, and Fantasy Island.

Markie Post was also bail bondswoman Terri Michaels in The Fall Guy, in which she appeared in 65 episodes from 1982 to 1985.

As Post was on Night Court, she was gaining recognition from her role as Georgie Anne Lahti Hartman in CBS’s Hearts Afire.

One of the first movies that Post starred in that wasn’t made for television was There’s Something About Mary in 1998, in which she played Cameron Diaz’s mother.

Post’s passion for acting would remain strong throughout her entire life, even as she was going through chemotherapy.

While fighting cancer, Markie Post starred in Four Christmases and a Wedding, Keep the Gaslight Burning, and Christmas Reservations.

She also guest starred on series such as Soundtrack, The Kids Are Alright, and Santa Clarita Diet.

Who Died While Playing Third Bailiff?

Selma Diamond and Florence Halop both died while serving as the third bailiff on Night Court, a role that would stay with Marsha Warfield until the show’s end.

Following Halop’s death, urban rumors began to spread around that the role was cursed and part of the reason they gave the role to the much younger Warfield.

Florence Halop was chosen for the role after Selma Diamond passed away in 1985 because of her similar comedic timing and mannerism to Diamond.

Diamond was 64 years old when she passed away, while Halop was 63 years old at the time of her death.

Before becoming an actress, Selma Diamond was an Emmy-nominated writer who was best known for her work in Caesar’s Hour in 1954.

Her first role came only two years later when she appeared as Mrs. Yoast on The Edge of Night.

Florence Halop entered the entertainment industry through radio shows in 1927 when she was only four years old before finding that she preferred to work in television.

Thanks to her short stature and larger-than-life personality, Halop quickly became a comedic hit.

Sadly, both Diamond and Halop were lifelong chain smokers who had their lives come to an end due to lung and breast cancer.

Each of these actresses only lasted a single season on Night Court before Marsha Warfield took on the role of Roz Russell.
