There is no denying that I’ve had my fair share of travel recently — between back and forth from Indiana to Florida, Internationally to the Bahamas and Guatemala, while there’s been a lot of hustle and bustle, the one consistent remains: I’m typically traveling from one climate to another. I don’t know about you, but I find it to be a wee bit challenging to put together outfits that need to be appropriate in -2 and 70 degrees within a few hour flight 😉 Because I’ve had to do it a time or two [or twelve] in recent months, I thought I’d share the best cold-to-warm [and vice versa] travel day looks I’ve turned to.
Before we jump in, there is one more consistent fact when it comes to my travels: the majority of my outfits all hail from…you guessed it, Nordstrom. You know I’m a huge fan of theirs [they first sucked me in with their free shipping and then kept me around with their incredible customer service]. Not only that, but they have a huge selection of vacation options so if you’re planning or about to embark on your next getaway, they have you covered from head to toe!
Hazel Cardigan • Free People [true to size, wearing in small] // Muscle Tank • Caslon [size down one, wearing in XS] // Live In High Waist Leggings • Zella [true to size] // Arahi 6 Running Shoe • Hoka One [size up .5] // Luka Duffle Bag • CalPak // Calpak Carry On Luggage
If it’s a travel day, you can most likely find me in leggings and sneakers. When I spotted this Free People Cardigan I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe as it’s an easy piece to layer when I’m cold [you know those airplanes have a way of freezing you out of your seat] and it’s just as easy to ditch when you land in the tropics.
Denim Trucker Jacket • Silver Jeans Co. [true to size, wearing in small] // Everyday V-Neck T-Shirt • Nordstrom [size up if in between, wearing in medium] // Performance Joggers • vuori [true to size, wearing in small] // Free Metcon 4 Training Shoe [true to size] // Hola Beaches Straw Tote • btb Los Angeles
99% of the time I travel you can find me in a denim jacket. Why? Because it is one of the heavier items I take on vacation and if I wear it on the plane, I don’t have to pack it and can sneak a few more cute tops for my trip 😉 Another travel hack: use your beach bag as your personal item on the plane. Don’t forget the snacks — sour gummy worms to be specific.
Long Line Cardigan – Halogen [true to size, wearing in small] // Everyday V-Neck T-Shirt • Nordstrom [size up if in between, wearing in medium] // Catherine Boyfriend Distressed Mid Rise Relaxed Jeans • KUT from the Kloth [size down one, wearing in 2] // Cally Faux Shearling Lined Mule • Steve Madden [true to size]
Let’s pretend you’re boarding a flight and as soon as you land have plans to hit up the cute local bar with girlfriends or have a business meeting to get to immediately [I’ll take the first option please] – this look might be for you. A classic pair of relaxed jeans [super tight jeans on a plane, no thank you] and a pair of mules that will keep your feet warm when needed and can easily slip off to get your toes in the sand stat.
Hybrid Puffer Jacket • Zella [true to size, wearing in small] // Everyday V-Neck T-Shirt • Nordstrom [size up if in between, wearing in medium] // One Dri-FIT Leggings • Nike [true to size] // Free Metcon 4 Training Shoe [true to size]
Dun dun dun…you’ve reached the end of your vacay and it’s time to go back to freezing land [I feel your pain], now would be an appropriate time to whip out the lightweight jacket you packed [which is also great for cooler morning or evening walks when you’re in your tropical oasis]. Add in a pair of warmer leggings [these are a great option!] ps. Can we talk about these sneakers? I’d travel anywhere for an excuse to wear these beauties.
