Friday marked a key day for the Chicago Cubs as they kicked off their fan convention.

The event gave fans a look into stars from both the past and present with the team.

However, it saw two legends from the storied history of the Cubs having a very emotional moment.

These two legends were Mark Grace and Shawon Dunston.

While talking to reporters, they couldn’t help but be full of emotion.

The reason behind the emotion is the two being named by Tom Ricketts as inductees into the Cubs Hall of Fame.

Both players are fan favorites in Chicago as they spent many years with the team.

Grace’s hitting during the 90s made him a legend, as he held a .308/.386/.445 slash during his career as a Cubbie.

His defense also gained him fame, as he earned four Gold Glove awards during his career.

However, Dunston’s fame comes from being the team’s first overall selection back in 1982.

During his career with the Cubs, he went to two All-Star games.

While he wasn’t the household name that Grace was in the MLB world, he is still a fan favorite in Chicago.

With the two finally getting their rightful spot in the Cubs Hall of Fame, it made for an emotional moment for the former teammates.

While the announcement was emotional, their induction this summer will cause fireworks.

However, fans hope their bid to the Cubs Hall of Fame will come with the team being a playoff contender.

While neither player got to the World Series, they still hold legendary status with fans who followed the Cubs in the 80s and 90s
