It has been a good January for Boston Red Sox star Rafael Devers.

First, the 26-year-old agreed to an 11-year deal with the Red Sox worth $331 million just a few days into 2023.

Then on Wednesday, he was treated to a massive round of applause at TD Garden when the Boston Celtics hosted the New Orleans Pelicans.

It’s clear that folks in Boston are excited about having him around for the foreseeable future.

Devers was able to enjoy a Celtics victory on Wednesday, as the team earned a 125-114 win over the Pelicans.

At 30-12, the Celtics are having a fabulous season, and Devers is certainly hoping that his Red Sox will put together a strong year of their own in 2023.

Sticking Around

Devers’ new deal may very well keep him with Boston for the remainder of his career.

That’s music to the ears of Red Sox fans, who are all too familiar with the feeling of losing homegrown stars.

Devers, a two-time All-Star who already has three top-15 MVP finishes under his belt, is going to be the face of Boston’s franchise moving forward.

He’s coming off of a 2022 season in which he batted .295 with an OPS of .879, 27 home runs, 42 doubles, and one triple.

It has been a frustrating offseason for the Red Sox, but inking Devers to a new deal is a massive win.

The one-time Silver Slugger has already helped the organization win one World Series title, and the hope in Boston is that the future holds more championships for Devers and the Red Sox.
