Flores has been a rather polarizing figure since being fired from his position as head coach of the Miami Dolphins at the end of last season. The move was mired in controversy, with conversation surrounding race in the NFL’s hiring practices coming to the forefront.
On Feb. 1, 2022, Flores filed a class-action lawsuit against the NFL, the New York Giants, and the Miami Dolphins, with allegations of racial discrimination.
In his time with the Miami Dolphins from 2019-2021, he coached the AFC East outfit to a 24-25 overall record, narrowly missing the playoffs in 2020. In the 2021 season, Flores coached the Dolphins to a 9-8 record after starting the season 1-7, becoming the first team to win seven games in a row after losing seven straight games.
The Browns fired former defensive co-ordinator Joe Woods on Monday. He spent three seasons with the team under head coach Kevin Stefanski.
They’ve also requested to interview with Patriots defensive assistant Jerod Mayo per a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
