The Atlanta Hawks put together one of the strongest teams in the East this season, at least on paper.

Adding Dejounte Murray next to Trae Young seemed like a master plan, as they could feed off each other and help hide each other’s flaws.

But the season has been a disappointment thus far, and not only on the court.

Recently, reports surfaced of a feud between Trae Young and coach Nate McMillan, and it seems like some of the guys in the locker room aren’t happy with Young, either.

Moreover, Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report claims that there’s a strong league-wide belief that Young could be the next star to force his way out of a small-market team:

“Rival executives in attendance at the NBA’s annual G League Winter Showcase are of the belief that Atlanta Hawks star point guard Trae Young could be the next player on a rookie max extension to request a trade if the team doesn’t make inroads come postseason time,” Haynes reported. “Young, 24, is as competitive as they come and has a strong desire to win big in this league. He’s under contract through the 2026-27 season but has an early termination option after the 2025-26 season.”

Trae is one of the best offensive players on Earth and would most definitely demand a massive return in any potential transaction.

However, there have also been some reports of league executives having doubts about his character and coachability, which could drive several interested teams away from making an offer.
