The MLB Winter Meetings have concluded, with plenty of top free agents already signed.
Depending on the position and a player’s age, some deals made during the offseason are steals.
We have already seen a few of those from contending teams.
The offseason is far from over, but these two contracts have been the best of the offseason so far.
1. Trea Turner, Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies knew they needed to sign one of the elite shortstops this offseason.
So they went out and landed the best one.
Trea Turner agreed to an 11-year, $300 million contract with the Phillies.
This deal might be the best contract signed this offseason.
Turner is an elite player that can hit for contact and power, while also using his elite speed.

Shortstop was arguably the weakest position on the Phillies last season.
But, now it has become a massive strength.
Turner can bat anywhere at the top of the order for this Phillies team.
He should be able to put up huge numbers throughout the 11 years he will be in Philadelphia.
2. Jose Abreu, Houston Astros
The rich get richer seems like a good phrase for Jose Abreu heading to the Houston Astros.
Abreu has been one of the best first basemen in baseball since he came over from Cuba in 2014.
Despite entering his age-36 season next year, the Astros felt confident giving Abreu a three-year, $58.5 million contract.
That contract will make Abreu the sixth highest-paid first baseman in baseball.
Jose Abreu, Astros
$58.5M/3$19,500,000 – 2023
$19,500,000 – 2024
$19,500,000 – 2025Plus: $200,000 for MVP ($175,000-2nd; $150,000-3rd;$125,000-4th; $100,000-5th)
$100,000 for WS/MVP
$75,000 for All Star
$75,000 for Gold Glove, Silver Slugger— Jon Heyman (@JonHeyman) December 1, 2022
Abreu has always been an elite-run producer, and now he joins one of the best lineups in baseball.
If he can stay healthy, another 30+ home run, and a 100+ RBI season is well within reach for Abreu.
Pairing Abreu with Yordan Alvarez in the Astros lineup will cause plenty of problems for opposing pitchers.
