After T.Y. Hilton signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday, he was met with positive reactions all across the NFL.

One of those reactions was from the owner of his former team, Jim Irsay.

Irsay has been the primary owner of the Indianapolis Colts since 1997.

He had a firsthand look at Hilton’s rise to stardom as a member of the Colts, and, at least publically, is in support of Hilton’s move to the Cowboys.

Hilton’s NFL Career

After a successful collegiate career at Florida International University, Hilton was selected in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

He was the 13th wide receiver taken in that draft and is one of, if not the most notable receiver, drafted in 2012.

While Hilton only started in one game in his rookie campaign, he was still effective, garnering 50 receptions for 861 yards and seven touchdowns.

In his career as a member of the Colts, Hilton racked up 631 receptions, 9,691 yards, and 53 touchdowns.

Hilton quickly became a favorite target for quarterback Andrew Luck, and was well-liked, both around the NFL and within the Colts organization as well.

He was also selected to the Pro Bowl four separate times and led the NFL in receiving yards in 2016.

Hilton’s impact as a member of the Colts cannot be understated, which is likely a reason for Irsay reaching out as he did, in a public manner on Twitter.

Will Hilton continue his NFL success as a member of the Cowboys?

With a team-friendly contract on the books, Hilton will have an opportunity to prove that he is still an NFL-caliber receiver.
