The New York Jets are on the verge of having another first-round bust in quarterback Zach Wilson.
One year after drafting Wilson with the second overall pick, the Jets have him riding the bench.
However, the benching comes from his awful performance during this season.
But will this be his last season in a Jets uniform, or can he redeem himself?
Head Coach Robert Saleh Gives Wilson A Lifeline
While Wilson is riding the bench in favor of Mike White, his head coach still believes in him.
With Robert Saleh believing Wilson is “going to be the future of this franchise,” it gives him a lifeline.
“We haven’t wavered in our belief that Zach Wilson is going to be the future of this franchise. I have every intent to get him back on the football field at some point this year.”- Robert Saleh#Jets

While those comments were before White’s performance, he hasn’t changed his tune.
However, a former general manager from the Jets has a different take.
Former Jets GM Thinks Wilson’s Time Is Up In 2022
Former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum feels White is the better quarterback for the team.
With him believing White is the “better football player,” he’s signaling that feels Wilson won’t play anymore in 2022.
“Mike White is a better football player than Zach Wilson. What are we talking about here?”

However, during his segment on ESPN’s Get Up!, a co-host points out why he feels Saleh is giving Wilson hope in 2022.
With the injuries to quarterbacks lately, Domonique Foxworth sees the message from Saleh as one directed to Wilson.
He feels it can keep the young quarterback motivated, as they might need him this season.
While the team has Joe Flacco, he’s getting old and might not return in 2023.
So even with White taking over for Wilson this season, the former first-round pick will still be in a Jets uniform after 2022.
