Chobani bolsters C-suite with hiring of chief communications and impact officer

Chobani named Nishant Roy as its chief communications and impact officer on Wednesday, the latest in a series of executive changes in 2022 to bolster the Greek yogurt maker’s executive ranks.

Roy will oversee corporate communications, government relations, sustainability, community impact, and philanthropy. He will report to Kevin Burns, president and chief operating officer at Chobani.

“Our Chief Communications & Impact Officer will be the champion of our mission and purpose, ensuring that our values consistently influence how we do business,” Hamdi Ulukaya, founder and CEO of Chobani, said in a statement. [Roy’s] experience across both business and service is exactly what we need in a leader to take Chobani’s impact to even greater heights.”

Roy is no stranger to Chobani’s product offerings or its support on issues such as eradicating hunger, supporting immigrants and refugees, honoring veterans and protecting the planet. He served as Ulukaya’s chief of staff for five years before becoming chief of strategic operations in March. Roy also serves on the board of La Colombe Coffee Roasters, for which Ulukaya is the majority owner.

Before joining Chobani, Roy worked at the United States Agency for International Development structuring partnerships to lift people out of poverty. He previously worked at Goldman Sachs and started his career as an airman in the U.S. Air Force.

Roy’s appointment is the latest C-suite announcement at the food maker following a period of executive upheaval earlier in 2022

This year Chobani has filled key roles in its legal, finance and international development departments. In March, several Chobani executives left the company, including then-President and Chief Operating Officer Peter McGuinness who now oversees Impossible Foods. Burns returned to Chobani soon after to take over McGuinness’ position.
