The Los Angeles Lakers are about to set forth on a pretty tough, difficult road trip.
Over the next week, LA will face off against the Milwaukee Bucks, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers, Toronto Raptors, and more.
Those are some tough teams, which means all hands will need to be on deck.
Well, one player won’t be starting the trip with the Lakers and his decision is completely understandable.
Dennis Schroder isn’t with the Lakers this morning. He and his wife had a baby boy yesterday

Dennis Schroder will not be playing with LA as they face off against the Bucks on Friday night because he and his wife just welcomed a baby boy on Thursday.
No one is going to fault Schroder for missing out on a number of games because of the birth of his child and the Lakers fully support this choice.
However, the Lakers will welcome Schroder back whenever he is ready because they desperately need the sort of basketball that he can play.
Schroder’s Support
This is Schroder’s second time with the team.
He played with LA back in the 2020-21 season, where he averaged 15.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
That season was the first of a few big disappointments for the Lakers and they decided against resigning Schroder.
Instead, he headed out to the Boston Celtics and then the Houston Rockets, where he continued to put up points but didn’t perform as expected.
It was his time playing for his national German basketball team in the EuroBasket tournament during the summer that put him back on the radar of many.
His excellent offensive skills made him an attractive pick-up and the Lakers jumped at the chance to bring him back.
So far, Schroder is averaging 8.4 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 25.3 minutes per game, although it should be noted that he missed a few games due to injury and has only played in 7 so far.
