After a Division Series exit, the Los Angeles Dodgers have a few holes to fill before the start of the 2023 season.

The most notable weakness is starting pitching.

After losing Tyler Anderson in free agency to the Los Angeles Angels and losing Walker Buehler to Tommy John surgery, the Dodgers are in need of some reinforcements.

While they have Tony Gonsolin and Julio Urias, the team has made clear that they intend to add more pitching.

Recently, the Dodgers have been in talks with two-time World Series champion and three-time Cy Young Justin Verlander.

On Twitter, a Dodgers fan had an interesting take, saying that he would rather the team sign Jacob deGrom than Verlander.

deGrom is of course coming off of a few injury-plagued seasons, but he would be a good fit for the Dodgers.

He might be the most expensive of the free agent starting pitchers.

The Dodgers certainly have the resources to pull off a deal for him.

The 34-year-old posted a 5-4 record and a 3.08 ERA after returning from the injured list in what could be his final season with the New York Mets.

Carlos Rodon is also on the market, and he will be sought after by several teams.

Verlander has met with both the Mets and the New York Yankees, so the Dodgers do have some competition there.

If Verlander doesn’t pan out, the team could potentially shift its focus to deGrom.

With the Winter Meetings on the horizon, activity in the trade and free agent markets will likely increase.
