Sean Payton has been one of those coaches any NFL team can use on their payroll.
Ever since he left New Orleans, he’s been part of several rumors of making a coaching return.
However, a return to the NFL is always possible for him, even though the New Orleans Saints have him under contract until 2024.
So what two NFL teams should get him if he makes a head coaching return?
2. Cleveland Browns
The Cleveland Browns are having a problem of being a team that’s too scripted.
Bills LB Matt Milano, when I asked if they were expecting the two Jacoby Brissett QB sneaks on 3rd & 1 and 4th & 1:
“Yeah, they have an 88% conversion rate (on that play). We were expecting it. He did it and got stuffed both times.”
That’s when preparation meets tendencies.

With the mess in Cleveland, the team might need some better coaching.
While Kevin Stefanski came to the Browns and got them their first playoff win in decades, he’s becoming too predictable.
However, he’s also having problems with his defense, as he’s not firing Joe Woods for his horrible defensive play calling this season.
If the Browns get Payton, he will make the tough choices and get the right coaches in Cleveland.
1. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers need a coach with proven experience to lead the team.
After the firing of Matt Rhule, Sean Payton came out and said the coaching job there was “attractive.”
“It’s almost a unicorn — the open job with a great QB, waiting for you to come in and be the foster parent.”@SeanPayton on Matt Rhule out in Carolina pic.twitter.com/TKk7GsRVGw

With him thinking Baker Mayfield is a “great QB,” maybe he can revive Mayfield’s career.
While the Panthers are lacking some big-name stars, they still have a solid roster.
If they can give the Saints enough to get the rights to Payton in 2023, he can help fix their franchise.
However, it will take a lot for this division rival to convince the Saints to let them have Payton.
