Does Zach Wilson Deserve To Be Benched?

The New York Jets had a chance on Sunday to take over first place in the AFC East.

However, the team blew this chance by giving up a punt return for a touchdown in the closing minute of their game.

Now the Jets sit in last place in the AFC East after their Sunday loss.

But their loss to the New England Patriots is also causing Robert Saleh to doubt starting quarterback Zach Wilson.

His recent comments signal that he might bench the young quarterback in their next game.

With “everything on the table,” it’s possible that Saleh places Wilson on the bench.

However, does he deserve to be benched, or is this an overreaction?

Wilson Has Been A Disaster This Season

Finding a bright spot with Wilson is very difficult to do this season.

In seven games, he only has two games with over 250 passing yards.

However, in those games, he’s thrown multiple interceptions.

Four games have seen him passing for under 160 yards, with him winning three.

While he’s 5-2 as the starter this season, the team is winning games because of their defense and running game.

However, their star running back is out for the season, leaving everything on Wilson.

With him having four touchdowns against five interceptions, he’s not helping his team.

While his numbers are horrible, it’s his performance under pressure that makes things worse.

With him being the worst quarterback under pressure this season, the Jets have every right to bench Wilson.

Doing this just might keep their playoff hopes alive.
