The MLB free agency period has opened and deals are already starting to flow in.

Once the first wave of early signings goes through, we will start to see some of the bigger names find homes.

Each year there are always a few steals on a few older players.

That will probably be the case again this season.

Here are three MLB free agents who could be steals this offseason.

1. Jose Abreu

The potentially former Chicago White Sox first baseman is looking for a big payday after another productive season.

Last year he hit .304 but had a down year with his power numbers.

He only hit 15 home runs and drove in a career-low 75 RBI.

Jose Abreu can still be a very productive player on a good team.

His age will make him a steal for whichever team is lucky to land him in free agency.

2. Xander Bogaerts

In a free agency class with four elite shortstops, Xander Bogaerts might be the one that flies under the radar.

Bogaerts has done nothing but produce throughout his career with the Boston Red Sox.

He is a four-time All-Star and has a career batting average of .292.

The 30-year-old does not provide much in the speed or power category, but he is a very valuable player.

Some team will be lucky to land Bogaerts this winter for what could be a steal.

3. J.D. Martinez

The universal designated hitter has done wonders for the career of players like J.D. Martinez.

He no longer is capable of much in the outfield but he can still hit.

Last season was a down year for Martinez but he hit .274 with 16 home runs and 64 RBI.

He will be 35 for most of the 2023 season, so it is fair to assume his contract will reflect his age.

But, Martinez could be a steal for any team that needs a primary designated hitter.
