Former Montreal Canadiens star P.K. Subban will be making his media home with ESPN.
The 33-year-old defenceman retired in September and joins ESPN’s NHL coverage on a multi-year deal — primarily as an in-studio analyst, but he will also serve as an in-game analyst, the network announced on Thursday.

“For a long time, I’ve sat in the locker room with teammates and discussed what it would be like to be on the other side as [an] analyst,” said Subban in a Thursday morning press release. “I have a vested interest in growing the game and know the importance of the rapidly expanding sports landscape, so I look forward to bringing my unique insights from having recently been on the ice and now my off-ice perspective.”
Subban played 13 seasons in the NHL with the Canadiens, Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils. He won the 2013 Norris Trophy and made three All-Star teams.
In 834 regular season games, the Toronto native totalled 467 points and 115 goals, while in the playoffs, Subban scored 18 goals and 62 points in 96 games.
ESPN also announced that the previously agreed upon show, “P.K.’s Places,” will debut next season on ESPN+.
The 2014 Canadian Olympic gold medalist was a part of the network’s 2022 playoff coverage, appearing on shows such as “First Take.”
“I’m excited to bring that passion and that energy that I brought on the ice to something else that I’m passionate about. I hope that they’re just as excited as I am to get started,” Subban told the Associated Press. “The people that follow and know me know that I keep honest. I’m going to be myself, and hopefully that’s what they want to see. I think that’s what people are excited about.”
