MLB chose to postpone Game 3 of the 2022 World Series between the Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies when rain came through Philadelphia yesterday.

As a result of the postponement, everything has been pushed back by a day, including the final travel day and Games 6 and 7 of the series.

With things tied up at a game apiece, Game 3 will take place tonight.

But with the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans playing each other on Thursday in the NFL’s Thursday Night Football showcase on Amazon Prime, MLB reportedly considered playing Game 5 of the World Series during the day, so as not to conflict with the football game.

However, Rob Manfred ultimately stated that it wouldn’t have worked to have done that, and that the best chance for the most viewers is to have the game in primetime.

Primetime Wars

As a result of the rainout, Game 5 will now be played on Thursday night.

Depending on what takes place in Games 3 and 4, Game 5 could be a potential clincher.

But regardless of what the series looks like heading into Game 5, sports fans will have two games to choose from on Thursday night.

It could either be Game 5 or the Thursday Night Football telecast.

The sports world will certainly be buzzing with two events taking place in primetime.

They’ll especially be buzzing in Philadelphia and Houston, as both games feature teams from the two metro areas.

The Thursday Night Football game will feature the Eagles and Texans and will be played in Houston, while Game 5 of the World Series will take place in Philadelphia.
