The 2022/23 Premier League campaign has been of a very high standard so far, with many players enjoying impressive starts to the season.
This list is in no particular order and the players mentioned are by no means the only players in the league that are currently in a rich vein of form.
Erling Haaland Is Thriving in the Premier League
Erling Haaland
What can be said about Haaland’s start to life as a Manchester City player that hasn’t already been said?
The Norweigan goal machine has scored seventeen Premier League goals in just eleven appearances, as well as registering three assists in that time too. His returns this season have been mind-boggling, with the striker on course to score a whopping 58 goals in the Premier League if he continues at his current rate.
Whilst Haaland’s goal-scoring feats are likely to slow down at some point during the season, there is still a very good chance that the 22-year-old will comfortably score over 40 goals, smashing the competition’s previous record in the process.
With Erling Haaland, the statistics speak for themselves – the Norwegian simply had to be on this list.
Granit Xhaka
Not many people will be shocked to see Granit Xhaka in this list, he has been phenomenal this season, but many people will be surprised to see the Swiss international performing at such a high level.
Ever since his arrival at Arsenal in 2016, Granit Xhaka has been a consistent source of divided opinion from Premier League fans. Few people doubted his ability, however, his persistent disciplinary issues, his lack of concentration and his infamous spat with the Arsenal fans left many with a sour taste in their mouths.
But, remarkably, the midfielder has been able to turn his situation around and has been arguably the best midfielder in the league this season. The 30-year-old is relishing his new role in the Arsenal midfield which has given him the freedom to get himself in and around the opposition’s penalty box, and he is taking full advantage of that.
The midfielder has scored three and assisted three in just eleven Premier League appearances and has become a player Arsenal can rely on to score goals when they need it most, such as in their recent 1-0 victory against PSV Eindhoven in the Uefa Europa League.

Leandro Trossard
Wow, what a season Trossard is having. The Brighton and Hove Albion winger has enjoyed a fantastic start to the campaign, having already scored six Premier League goals this season and fans of the seaside club will be hoping that he can maintain this form.
The highlight of his season so far is unquestionably his outstanding hattrick against Liverpool, which helped his side secure a draw away at Anfield.
Whilst Trossard’s goal-scoring returns have been impressive, they are not the only reason that he is on this list. The Belgian has also made an average of 1.5 key passes per game for the Seagulls, which ranks him in the top thirty for all Premier League players this season.
The winger’s combination of goals and an ability to regularly pick out teammates in dangerous positions have helped Brighton sustain their good start to the campaign, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side currently sitting in ninth in the Premier League.
William Saliba
The Frenchman has been like a new signing for the Gunners this season. Despite being just 21 years of age, the defender is extremely comfortable on the ball and has the confidence to take risks when in possession.
Saliba has helped bring Mikel Arteta’s true vision of how he wants to play to life, as Arsenal now have a centre-back who can effectively progress the ball vertically up the pitch. This was demonstrated perfectly in the build-up to the Gunners’ third goal in their 3-0 win over Brentford this season.
The Frenchman had the composure needed, despite being on the halfway line, with no one to cover him if he had lost the ball, to play a one-two around the Brentford press, opening up space and allowing him to quickly release his teammates.
He has also shown an impressive ability to bounce back from adversity. After scoring an own goal in Arsenal’s 4-2 thrashing of Leicester City, many young players may let the situation get the better of them, but Saliba dug deep and helped his side secure the three points.
William Saliba has been a revelation this season at the heart of the Arsenal defence, and the club will be hoping to finalise a contract extension for the defender sooner rather than later.

Aleksandar Mitrovic
The Serbian international has proven a lot of people wrong this season, myself included.
The striker has notoriously found goals easy to come by in the Championship but has largely found it difficult to replicate that form in the Premier League, whether that be due to his team creating fewer chances or through his own limitations, or perhaps a combination of the two.
However, this season, Marco Silva’s Fulham have remained true to themselves and have continued to play an attacking brand of football, which has benefitted Mitrovic hugely. The 28-year-old has scored nine Premier League goals in just eleven appearances, just one goal less than Harry Kane – for a striker in a newly promoted team, the forward deserves a huge amount of credit for that return.
Fulham have done very well thus far to keep themselves out of any conversation regarding relegation, and if Mitrovic can maintain the form he is currently showing across the entire season, then they stand a very good chance of continuing to do so.
