The Cleveland Browns came into this season with hopes of returning to the playoffs.

After acquiring Deshaun Watson in the offseason, they had plenty of hype around their team.

Then Watson was suspended for 11 games, and Jacoby Brissett was tasked with keeping this team in contention.

Unfortunately for Cleveland, that has not been the case.

The Browns fell to 2-4 on Sunday with a loss to the New England Patriots.

One issue for the Browns’ struggles this season has been their defense.

This has been one of the worst defenses in the NFL.

They are allowing 27.2 points per game, along with 361.3 yards.

With a backup QB leading your offense, every other unit on the team needs to step up.

But, they have not done that.

The one bright spot on this team has been the run game and Nick Chubb.

Chubb leads the NFL in rushing yards with 649 and is averaging an impressive 5.9 yards per carry.

But, this is becoming a lost season for the Browns with no true resolution.

They could fire their defensive coordinator, and hope that a different voice can produce better results.

But, even that is a long shot.

This tweet pretty much sums up the season on defense for Cleveland.

It seems more than likely that by the time Watson is ready to return the Browns will be out of playoff contention.

Cleveland has a very tough schedule remaining with games they can not win with a backup QB and terrible defense.

If things do not get better, head coach Kevin Stefanski could even be on the hot seat.

For his sake, they have to start playing better in every phase of the game.
