Week 6 brings a new wrinkle to the NFL season. Four teams have a bye week, while others settle into a midseason routine.
On Thursday, the Washington Commanders held on for a 12-9 victory over the Chicago Bears. The Commanders earned their second win despite unaspiring play from their offense. Quarterback Carson Wentz threw for just 99 yards in the game.
Offense was not a problem Sunday afternoon, when the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills renewed their rivalry. It was a rematch of their overtime thriller in the AFC Divisional round last season, and the Bills pulled off the late 24-20 victory.
The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles also have a score to settle. NFC East supremacy will be on the line Sunday night. The weekend concludes with the Denver Broncos traveling to Los Angeles to play the Chargers.

Here’s a rundown of all the Week 6 action around the NFL.
Washington Commanders 12, Chicago Bears 7
Briefly: The Commanders snapped a four-game losing streak Thursday night. Running back Brian Robinson made his first NFL start and delivered with 60 rushing yards and a touchdown. His fourth-quarter score was the lone bright spot for the Commanders’ offense. The Bears continued to struggle as receiver Darnell Mooney was stopped at the goal line in the final seconds.
One highlight to know: Bears receiver Dante Pettis hauled in a 40-yard touchdown late in the third quarter.
Next up: The Commanders host the Green Bay Packers in Week 7. The Bears will play the New England Patriots.

Atlanta Falcons 28, San Francisco 49ers 14
Briefly: Falcons quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 13 of 14 passes and threw two touchdowns, adding one on the ground. Meanwhile, 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo threw a pair of interceptions, and San Francisco’s offense struggled to do much of anything against Arthur Smith’s Atlanta defense.
One highlight to know: In the final play before halftime, Garoppolo threw an interception to Falcons defender Isaiah Oliver.
Next up: The Falcons travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals. The 49ers host the Kansas City Chiefs.
New England Patriots 38, Cleveland Browns 15
Briefly: Third-string quarterback Bailey Zappe showed he’s plenty capable of leading the New England Patriots. The rookie went 24-of-34 for 309 yards and two touchdowns. Running back Rhamondre Stevenson added two more scores and 76 yards after a career day last week. For the Cleveland Browns, Jacoby Brissett was sacked four times, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.
One highlight to know: Not only was it a good day for Zappe, but fellow rookie Tyquan Thornton got his first NFL touchdown reception in the third quarter. It was a two-yard score that put the Patriots up 17-6. In the fourth quarter, he had a 19-yard run for his second career touchdown.
Next up: The Patriots host the Chicago Bears on Monday night, while the Browns take a three-game losing streak to face the Baltimore Ravens.

New York Jets 27, Green Bay Packers 10
Briefly: The Jets rolled over the Packers in decisive fashion, rushing for a pair of touchdowns and quelling Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay offense all afternoon.
One highlight to know: New York blocked a kick with 5:43 left in the third quarter and Will Parks recovered and returned it for a touchdown.
Next up: The Jets travel to Denver to take on the Broncos. The Packers have a road game against the Washington Commanders.

Indianapolis Colts 34, Jacksonville Jaguars 27
Briefly: Colts quarterback Matt Ryan passed for nearly 400 yards in a shootout win over their AFC South rival Jacksonville Jaguars. Ryan threw for three touchdowns. Indianapolis receiver Michael Pittman Jr. hauled in 13 catches.
One highlight to know: Ryan found rookie receiver Alec Pierce for a go-ahead, 30-yard touchdown pass with 17 seconds left.
Next up: The Colts have a road game against the Tennessee Titans. The Jaguars host the New York Giants.
Minnesota Vikings 24, Miami Dolphins 16
Briefly: The Miami Dolphins kicked a field goal to get the first points of the day, but it was all Minnesota Vikings from there. The Dolphins’ quarterbacks continue to deal with injuries as third-stringer Skylar Thompson left the game in the second quarter. Teddy Bridgewater took his place after being cleared from concussion protocol Saturday. The Vikings had six sacks on the day while their quarterback, Kirk Cousins, went 20-of-30 for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
One highlight to know: Dalvin Cook had a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, making it a two-score game. The day was a homecoming for Cook, who attended Miami Central High School.
Next up: The Vikings take their four-game win streak into a bye week, while the Dolphins host the Pittsburgh Steelers fresh off an upset win.

Cincinnati Bengals 30, New Orleans Saints 26
Briefly: Bengals accounted for four total touchdowns (three passing, one rushing) in a narrow win on the road in New Orleans. Cincinnati receiver Ja’Marr Chase caught seven passes and added a pair of touchdowns himself.
One highlight to know: Burrow and Chase connected on a 60-yard touchdown with 1:57 left in the fourth quarter to put the Bengals ahead for good.
Next up: The Bengals head home to host the Atlanta Falcons. The Saints travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals.

New York Giants 24, Baltimore Ravens 20
Briefly: The Giants moved to 5-1 on the season with a hard-fought victory over the Ravens. New York running back Saquon Barkley had 83 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was just 17 for 32 passing.
One highlight to know: Barkley plunged into the end zone from one yard out to give the Giants the lead with 1:43 to play.
Next up: The Giants travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars. The Ravens host the Cleveland Browns.
Pittsburgh Steelers 20, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 18
Briefly: Kenny Pickett threw his first career touchdown for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first quarter. But after he was shaken up with a big hit, Mitch Trubisky took the reins. With 4:38 on the clock, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers missed a two-point conversion that would have tied the game. The score, a pass from Tom Brady to Leonard Fournette, was the Bucs’ only touchdown of the day.
One highlight to know: Chase Claypool snagged a pass from Trubisky on 3rd-and-11 while tightroping the sidelines. The play continued the Steelers’ final drive and allowed them to finish the game in victory formation.
Next up: The Buccaneers seek to rebound when they travel to face the Carolina Panthers, and the Steelers look to secure their first back-to-back wins of the season when they take a trip to face the Miami Dolphins.

Los Angeles Rams 24, Carolina Panthers 10
Briefly: The Los Angeles Rams dominated the second half to hand the Carolina Panthers their third straight loss. The Panthers offense failed to score in interim coach Steve Wilks’ first game at the helm. Donte Jackson scored the only touchdown for Carolina with a 30-yard pick six. Otherwise, Matthew Stafford went 26-of-33 for 253 yards and a touchdown and got two more scores from the Rams’ running backs for the win.
One highlight to know: Running back Ben Skowronek got his first career touchdown with a 17-yard run in the third quarter that put the Rams up for good.
Next up: The Rams head into their bye week, and the Panthers host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Seattle Seahawks 19, Arizona Cardinals 9
Briefly: There were 11 sacks and five fumbles between the teams. There wasn’t an offensive touchdown until the fourth quarter, but the Seattle Seahawks hung on to beat the Arizona Cardinals in an NFC West matchup.
One highlight to know: Kyler Murray added 100 rushing yards to his 222 yards through the air, but an interception by Tariq Woolen with 3:59 left in the game turned out to be the last of the Cardinals’ gas in the tank.
Next up: The Cardinals have a quick turnaround as they host the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night, while the Seahawks travel to face the San Diego Chargers.

Buffalo Bills 24, Kansas City Chiefs 20
Briefly: It was a one-score game throughout as the rivalry between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs continues to grow. The Bills snagged this one after the Chiefs took the AFC Divisional game earlier this year. There was a flashback to that game as it took the Chiefs’ only 12 seconds to set up kicker Harrison Butker for a franchise-record 62-yard field goal to tie the game at the end of the first half. Josh Allen went 27-of-40 for 329 yards and three touchdowns. His friendly rival Patrick Mahomes went 25-of-40 for 338 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Travis Kelce was held out of the end zone after grabbing four touchdowns in a Week 5 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
One highlight to know: The Bills defense continues to be lockdown as Taron Johnson snagged Mahomes’ pass intended for rookie Skyy Moore with less than a minute left in the game, taking away all Kansas City’s hopes of another comeback.
Next up: The Bills take their three-game win streak and a 5-1 record into a bye week, while the Chiefs march west to face the San Francisco 49ers.

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

What to know: Both teams look to climb atop the NFC East standings. The Eagles remain the NFL’s lone undefeated team and will get a tough challenge against the Cowboys. A key matchup to watch is Eagles OT Lane Johnson against Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence. The winner of that positional battle could have a big impact on the game.

What to know: When will Russell Wilson cook for the Denver Broncos? It’s a question on the minds of several fans. Wilson has a chance to turn it around against the Chargers. However, it will not be easy as the Los Angeles has scored 64 points during their two-game winning streak.
