The Matt Rhule tenure with the Carolina Panthers has come to an end.

After going 11-27 in three seasons with the Panthers the team has seen enough.

So what is next for Rhule?

Well, it seems obvious that he will return to the college ranks where he has had plenty of success over the years.

Before Carolina, Rhule was a great college coach at both Temple and Baylor.

So what college jobs might be interested in hiring Rhule?

Three jobs come to mind, all of which have rich traditions in football.

Top College Openings

The first team that comes to mind is the Wisconsin Badgers.

Wisconsin fired their coach, Paul Chryst, after starting 2-3 in the 2022 season.

Playing in the Big Ten, the Badgers need a good coach that can compete with Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan.

At every school, Rhule has coached he has gotten the best out of his players.

There is no reason to think he can not do that in the Big Ten.

The other great job that has struggled to find the right coach is Nebraska.

Scott Frost was fired from his alma mater after a 1-2 start to this season.

In three seasons at Nebraska, Frost has a record of 16-31.

Rhule could take over Nebraska and lead them back to relevance.

Another Big Ten team, just like Wisconsin, Rhule can recruit good players to play in one of the best conferences in the nation.

Also, the Big Ten West is the weaker of the two divisions of the big ten.

Teams like Wisconsin and Nebraska could only be a coach away from making a run to the Big Ten Championship game.

According to Odds Shark, Nebraska has the best odds at landing Rhule.

The third college job that Rhule could take is at Arizona State.

Coaching in the Pac-12 would be easier to win games than in the Big Ten.

But, Arizona State is not a school that stands out for football.

It seems like an odd fit for Rhule to go to the Pac-12.

But, Arizona State did just fire Herm Edwards, who was a former NFL coach.

So it would not be crazy to see them go back to a former NFL coach again.

Ultimately, Rhule has shown the ability to have success at multiple spots in college.

He should get one of these college jobs next year and has a chance for much more college success in the future.
