2 NFL Coaches Who Are Overachieving So Far

Through three weeks of the NFL season, there are a few teams that are off to surprising starts.

Most of those teams have good players, but others have good players and overachieving coaches.

Coaching is one of the most important aspects of any successful team.

Good coaching can even overcome holes on a roster and find ways to put their players in the best position.

We have seen plenty of that through three weeks.

Without further ado, here are three NFL coaches who are overachieving so far this season.

Mike McDaniel, Miami Dolphins

The best team in the AFC through three games has been the Miami Dolphins.

After a thrilling victory on Sunday over the Buffalo Bills, the Dolphins improved to 3-0.

The main reason for this turnaround in Miami is due to head coach, Mike McDaniel.

McDaniel spent last season as the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator.

Now he is using his brilliant offensive brain to have success in Miami.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa continues to develop under the first-year head coach.

He had another solid game on Sunday throwing for 186 yards and one touchdown despite having to leave the game in the second quarter with an injury.

Jaylen Waddle even produced another 100-yard game as he and Tyreek Hill look like one of the best WR duos in the NFL.

Even though McDaniel is an offensive coach, his defense was stout against the Bills’ stout offense on Sunday.

Despite, Bills QB Josh Allen throwing the ball 63 times for 400 yards the Dolphins were still able to win.

The craziest stat of all for this game is that the Bills ran 90 plays to the Dolphins’ 39.

Being on the field for 90 plays as a defender is tough by Miami made it work and remained undefeated.

McDaniel should be the front-runner for coach of the year through three weeks and his Dolphins look to reclaim the AFC East title for the first time since 2008.

Doug Pederson, Jacksonville Jaguars

The most surprising team in football this year has to be the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This team was the worst in the NFL last season winning only three games.

But, they have already started their 2022 campaign with two wins in three games.

Look no further than the head coach, Doug Pederson, as a reason for the turnaround.

Pederson has gotten the most out of his uber-talented QB Trevor Lawrence.

The second-year pro has thrown for six touchdowns and only one interception in three games.

Also, the Jags lead the AFC South with a record of 2-1.

This offense is full of weapons at Lawrence’s disposal.

With James Robinson, Zay Jones, and Christian Kirk all having huge games in Week 3.

The Jaguars have not won the division since 2017, but they are poised to win it again this year.

The Jags’ defense has even impressed thanks to rookie Travon Walker and Devin Lloyd playing big roles in their first years.

Linebacker, Josh Allen, is even showing why he was a first-round pick back in 2019.

His four QB hits in Week 3 made it a miserable day for Justin Herbert.

This Jaguars team looks for real and they have a good shot to pull off a worst-to-first season.
